This course is for those looking to begin DJing as a hobby or a potential career path. Join our list of alumni by learning a diverse range of DJ techniques and tricks covering fundamentals including beat matching and EQ-ing, through to more advanced techniques including harmonic mixing, looping, effects, scratching and much more. You will also learn how to use Pioneer’s Rekordbox software to analyse, organise and play your music, and maximise the potential of industry-standard Pioneer DJ hardware. When you've completed this course you'll have the option to continue on to Complete DJ Level 2. It's also possible to book both modules together here. Our studios are located in Shoreditch - a global hub of London music venues and bars - and include state-of-the-art technology and a Pioneer DJ sponsored studio. Class sizes are small so you receive plenty of 1-2-1 support, each student has their own set up in class, and all music styles are welcome.

Shorty has a long history in radio, youth work and live events. Currently a resident DJ at the world famous cHip sHop in Brixton, and co-founder of More Than Music (MTM) who focus on youth work with at-risk and vulnerable young people.
J-Fresh is a BBC Radio 1Xtra mix resident, Ministry of Sound music curator, DJ, broadcaster and producer with support from BBC Radio 1, Mixmag, GRM Daily & Spotify Editorials.
Resident DJ for Goldie's Metalheadz label, presenter at 1Xtra, Radio 1 & Ministry of Sound. Recorded/remixed for Goldie, Roni Size, Guy Called Gerald, Trey Songz, Chipmunk, Nas & Damian Marley.

Depending on your programme, certain hardware and software will be essential throughout your studies. To help with your independent learning and assessment work, you will need to have access to this equipment outside of the campus. However, if you are able to attend classes on campus, this equipment will be available to use either in class or by booking practice time. Note that you have access to our facilities 7 days a week during term time for the length of your course (excluding scheduled breaks). Please visit this page which lists the hardware and software you are required to own for each programme. Where you may choose to study online (distance learning), this equipment will be essential to your studies and assignment work. If for any reason you cannot afford to purchase an essential item, you may be eligible for financial support via the hardship fund. More information about this can be found here. This course takes place one evening per week: Tuesdays from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
