Develop your sound engineering skills
Learn to mix your sounds on a 48 channel SSL Duality Delta mixing console and take your music to the next level. This course is designed and taught by professionals who’ve worked with the likes of Pharrell, Swedish House Mafia, Kanye West, Black Eyed Peas, The Killers, Bjork and many more.
This 9-month course will provide you with an advanced recording and mixing knowledge. You’ll take part in live band sessions recording instruments and vocals, learn best-practice recording techniques, make use of hardware and plugins such as compressors, reverb, echo and delay, before learning how to mix and master your tracks to a high standard in the box (using your DAW) and on the desk. You can also enrol on an official Pro Tools 101 Certificate to really broaden your industry skills. You’ll be joining a global alumni community with some of the biggest names in music and engaging with the wider Point Blank community with free masterclasses, events and other networking opportunities. David Stone is one half of Drum n Bass act Gerra & Stone & his work has received regular plays across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra & Kiss FM. His tracks regularly chart in Beatport top 10 . He's also a successful DJ & PB graduate.
Art of Mixing was my favourite module this term. My lecturer was great - so helpful and engaging with his explanations about proper mixing techniques throughout the course. The mastering module was also very helpful! Depending on your programme, certain hardware and software will be essential throughout your studies. To help with your independent learning and assessment work, you will need to have access to this equipment outside of the campus. However, if you are able to attend classes on campus, this equipment will be available to use either in class or by booking practice time. Note that you have access to our facilities 7 days a week during term time for the length of your course (excluding scheduled breaks). Please visit this page which lists the hardware and software you are required to own for each programme. Where you may choose to study online (distance learning), this equipment will be essential to your studies and assignment work. If for any reason you cannot afford to purchase an essential item, you may be eligible for financial support via the hardship fund. More information about this can be found here. Each module requires your attendance at one daytime class which will be 3 or 4 hours long depending on the module. Your timetable will be confirmed a week before the start of each term. If you have specific timetable requests, please contact us before booking and we will do our best to arrange your classes at times that suit you. In addition to classes, students are expected to schedule sufficient practice time each week. The studio facilities are open to you 7 days a week gaining you valuable studio time and reinforcing the skills learned in class. Students can also book regular 1-2-1 sessions with our lecturers outside of class time.
