Step into the music industry with Point Blank’s Music Production & Audio Engineering Diploma. This course will supply you with all the skills you need to begin a career in many fields of the music industry including music producer, recording engineer, film/TV composer, sound editor, music arranger, artist/performer, studio manager, A&R/label manager, and many more.
Throughout this diploma program you'll learn the essential components of what it takes to create high quality, professional tracks in our state-of-the-art studios. You'll study audio engineering, sound design, composition for film and TV, vocal production, remixing, and advanced mixing and mastering on our 32-channel SSL Origin console. You’ll also take part in studio mentoring sessions with A&R Director Kwame Kwaten, who has 33 years’ experience in the music industry working with the likes of Jay-Z, Mick Jagger, Tom Jones, and Seal. Each student will receive a copy of Ableton Live Suite ($749 value) or Apple Logic Pro X ($199 value). An Ableton Certified Trainer and Pioneer DJ Battle Championship winner, Mikhail Arce-Ignacio (Mecha) is a versatile producer, engineer, music director, DJ and live electronic performer.
Starting out in the '80's, Dave's incredible adventures include Psychic TV, Anne Clark, ONU Sound System, Andy Weatherall, Lee Scratch Perry, Billy Ray Martin, with countless albums and live projects.
A founding member of world famous rap group N.W.A, Arabian Prince has written, rapped on, and produced some of the most influential tracks in the history of hip hop in an industry career spanning almost four decades.
Sameer is an electronic music producer, mixer & mastering engineer who has worked with The Crystal Method, Smashing Pumpkins, Tori Amos, Sting, and more on labels including EMI, Atlantic, Universal, and Defected.
DJ Markman incorporates classic 90s House with futuristic R&B, UK Garage & Bassline. Ableton Certified, his live sets pay homage to the energy that made his heroes sets, artists like Adamski, Orbital and the Chems, so compelling.

Required Entrance Evaluation Submission: Students seeking to enter this Diploma program above are required to complete the pointblank Diploma Program Entrance Evaluation Submission Form located at tinyurl.com/pbdiploma prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement. This form includes questions about your musical background as well as two music content submissions which must be provided as URL links to downloadable files (hosted on a cloud server such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer) of original musical tracks you have created as the sole music producer. Each track must be at least 2 minutes in length and in a standard audio format of WAV, AIF, or MP3.
Students may register first by clicking Enroll Now, but the entrance evaluation submission must be made prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement and beginning classes.
All students entering college-level programs at pointblank must also provide proof of graduation from high school or the equivalent, or take an approved Ability-to-Benefit test. None at all! Every pointblank student has access to their own fully-equipped workstation in class and during their practical studio work outside of class time. If you decide to purchase equipment for your own home studio, we will be happy to help you arrange student discounts from our leading industry partners including Apple, Ableton, Pioneer, Native Instruments, Serato, Izotope, Waves, and more.
For most 10-week courses within in this program, classes meet once per week for 4 hours (with a 15-minute break included) at one of the following session times:
10:00am – 2:00pm (Morning Session)
2:30pm – 6:30pm (Afternoon Session)
7:00pm – 11:00pm (Evening Session)
Musicianship and instrumental courses meet once per week for 2 hours each at similar times. Some programs contain up to 3 or 4 courses per quarter, so check the "Key Info" section on each program page to see how many classes you'll be attending each week. Classes are scheduled before the start of each quarter; call (323) 594-8740 for the most up-to-date information on scheduling and class availability. Our facilities are also open for student use six to seven days a week (depending on the quarterly course schedule), giving you valuable studio time to make your music and reinforce your new skills outside of class sessions.

Yes. Classes are usually available in the evening and on weekends, and we will be happy to arrange a class schedule that works around your other professional commitments. International students have different options for attending pointblank classes depending on their country of origin. These include the B2 visitor visa, the ESTA visa waiver program, and more. We do not offer F or M student visas at this time.
